Artist Statement

My art doesn't necessarily reflect any outside world or influence. Instead I try to make art that begins and ends with itself. It's extremely hard for me to pick one influence, one pallet, or one motif while making a body of work.

It's taken me long to realize my perspective as a maker, but through the art I slowly started to create - I was able to accept myself. I was able to realize my gift of empathy and deep appreciation for other people's perspectives.

When I am making art I allow this appreciation to be my focus: I allow an image or simply a mark to have sway over me and to lead me on a totally absorbing journey of discovery and expression.

Through art, I make a small message of love and emblems of blissful, unconscious acceptance of the process. I hold tightly, faithfully, to the process of making. I permit the newly discovered image to take me over and strive to give it space and appreciation.

I will make my statement be a message of love and acceptance of the process. The process of making and the process of allowing an image to influence me is what I'll hold onto as an artist and I hope it will continue to make room for me.
